9/11
There are certain dates since we've entered into the 2000's that I think some of us won't forget for our own reasons.
The other day I was on twitter and someone mentioned Y2K and I almost spit out my coffee laughing. As so many of you probably remember Y2K was the beginning of the millennial age and there were all these rumors circulating that on New Years Eve at midnight as we went from 1999 into 2000 all the clocks were suppose to stop working, and all the computers were suppose to crash. People were stocking up on groceries. Was suppose to be absolute chaos!.
I stayed in that new years was raining and was bitterly cold out. I stayed up to midnight to see if the clocks would stop and to see if the world would virtually shut down, lol...oh right, and to ring in the New Year! Nothing significant happened so I went to sleep, lol
Another date that stands out to me is 11/11/2011
That was the year all the 11's lined up! which if you look up the Significance of November 11 it says- November 11 is a vibrationally powerful day due to the fact that it is the 11th day of the 11 month. 1111 or 11/11 holds special spiritual significance as it is believed to be the number of spiritual awakenings and powerful new beginnings. So would go without saying if you tack on the 2011 and it becomes all 11's -Meaning 11th day in the 11th month with 11 at the end of the year would make it pretty damn powerful!. I don't know how many people remember what they did on the 11/11/2011 but I do!, and it was I'd say it was one of the most magical days ever!
And now I'm gonna talk about todays date 9/11 which is why I even wrote this post. Up until now I never talked openly online about where or what I was doing on 9/11 -
On 9/11/2001- I got up to get ready for work like I did almost everyday. I'd been out of the workforce for sometime and recently took a job doing messengering. My dispatcher often had me start my day a few blocks away from the twin towers. That morning I was running late to work. I use to take the Staten Island ferry across to Manhattan. Anyway, I got my coffee as I always did took a seat on the boat. Was pretty early in the morning so was lot of people on the boat going to work. I usually sat downstairs on the boat. Midway into the trip a man stood up and screamed a plane just hit one of the twin towers! I'm a typical New Yorker and thought he was just a crazy person. Seriously people scream crazy shit here all the time!.
A few minutes later a bunch of people were screaming and crowding around the windows. I got up and went to the window and could see the towers smoking. At that point it seemed like the whole boat went nuts. People were screaming crying and threating to jump off the boat. The captain announced that they were not going to continue on to Manhattan. So basically they stopped the boat and we were now just sitting midway between Staten island and Manhattan waiting for clearance to go back to Staten Island.
Crew members then started locking all the doors so people couldn't jump off the boat. I then went one flight up to the middle of the boat. It was again craziness. More people crying and some idiot guy working up a crowd of people by saying that we were now sitting ducks in the middle of the water and what if we were gonna get hit next! I mean the whole boat was already in a state of panic we didn't need him making it worse.
There was also a lady standing by one of the windows with a baby crying. I believe she was Muslim by the way she was dressed. She said to me she left her country and came here to get away from war. Someone started talking with her so I moved on and went to the other end of the boat, still drinking my coffee. There was a group people crying and standing in a circle holding hands and praying. I went one more flight upstairs to the very top of the boat. More people crying and some people were trying to make phone calls to their love ones. My phone wasn't working so I couldn't call anyone.
I believe we sat out in the water for over an hour. Finally they announced that the boat was going back to Staten Island. We got back to Staten Island and I went to my moms house. She was very happy to see me because she knew I worked in Manhattan. We decided to go back over to the ferry and sit and wait for my husband at the time to get across. We sat in front of borough hall watching boat after boat load of people come off. People were all cover in dust and some were missing shoes and their clothing was ripped. They looked like they'd been through a war.
The area where the towers stood smoked for days. At some point they shut the ferries down. They used our ferries for a while to remove debris and someone said the dead bodies, but I don't know about that one.
Every year I reflect on the whole thing. Was a very horrific and dark day for a lot of us, especially for ones who lost their lives and the ones who gave their lives trying to save people. It's a day to be respected and never forgotten-
