A goal without a timeline is just a dream.
I was thinking to myself last night if I could pick just one craft out of all the crafts I've done over the years to get back into, would probably be making jewelry. Anyone who's ever looked at my bio on Etsy where I have my shop would know jewelry was first thing I started selling when I first opened my shop back in 2009. Now it's important you guys try and remember that because one day I will have a pop quiz and you will all be tested on that, lol. not really..just kidding! On a serious note though before I even started making jewelry I was making something I called fairy boxes . I'm going to pop a very, very, very old photo in from around 2003 down below- If you look at the photo you can see I was really into Amy Brown and Brian Froud. The boxes were way more detailed then what your seeing in this crappy photo from 2003- As well as being hand painted they were all embellished with beads, rhinestones and even glass! I actually had more boxes then what you see in the photo., And incase anyone cares, I also found a picture of myself from 2003 with mega short hair, lol- It was called a pixy haircut, how fitting considering I loved pixies and fairies at the time.
Me in 2003 next to part of a mural I participated in making for an art event. That was a fairy I made while blindfolded. Was part of the project! |
The boxes were made to house Tarot card, potpourri and yes, jewelry! I made those fairy boxes for a few years till around 2007 when I found a magazines called Bead Unique that inspired me to start making my own jewelry. Omg that magazine was like the Holly Bible to me.
A copy I found in my house |
I think it was around 2008 when I started making my own jewelry. I remember bidding on all these one of a kind beads that were made by different glass blowers. I had found this one amazing glass blower back then who sold her stuff on eBay called Studio Jonte . I remember staying up till 2 in the morning sometimes to try and out bid someone for one of her beads. They were that damn amazing! I also think I had an addiction to eBay back then, hehe. But anyway back to what I was saying, I actually still have a bunch of her beads that I've just been hording for years. I have this set of zombie bunnies and fairy she made. Every year I pull them out and think this will be the year I make a necklace with them, But then I don't, lol.
My little walking dead zombie bunnies and fairy- One day I will make a necklace with them!

This one was called Love Bot and was made with a piece of an old computer board I found in the street. I gave him puffy wings and a bouquet of flowers and Swarovski Crystals
Next there was The Queen of the forest
I also made this one that was based on fairytales - Unfortunately I don't have many more pictures of this one. They got lost in a computer I had that crashed !-So pissed about that
Next I have this one I called surfer girl. You can see one of Studio Jonte one of a kind glass blown fairies I attached to that mega big safety pin. The necklaces was inspired by the movie soul surfer. That is me wearing it when I had my snake bits piercing I got back in 2011. Sad part is those piercings only lasted a month and then I had to remove them for a job and they closed up! So pissed!
I didn't smile much in photos back in the day haha! |
And lastly I'll show you guys these last two -
The teddy bear one I still have and think I want to change the picture in it at some point!?!? Maybe I don't know. The other one I sold and it was based on a dark Little red ridding hood video game.
Anyway this concludes the tour, haha - Sorry but this is what happens when I start looking at my jewelry supplies. I start wanting to go back to making jewelry again. I really think I will because I loved making the stuff so much. The only reason I even stopped making jewelry was because it became really hard to sell any of it after shops like forever 21 came started offering pretty cool looking jewelry for dirt cheap prices. Seemed like people didn't want to invest in $100 or $200 statement pieces like I was making. They liked what I call throw away jewelry instead. But I'd like to go back to making Jewelry again, even if it would just be for fun.
