Teddy bear domination is back

Yesterday marked the day that I've made three hundred pieces of Blythe doll clothing. 

 Yep, I started making Blythe clothing three years ago and yesterday I started finishing up another teddy bear coat. I haven't made one in three years so I was pretty excited to finally make another one.   
              Here is the new teddy bear coat-  Was inspired by a ballerinas tutu

 The right side is after I sewn on the teddy bear



Like the last teddy bear coat I made the picking of the bear was as important as the coat itself. 
I found a lovely vintage STEIFF bear from 2003 who gave his life for this coat-
Doesn't he look happy to be volunteering!


Like the last bear coat I made, I had to take the bear apart and reassemble him back on to the coat. If you are sensitive to a teddy bear being taken apart look away now!, haha







I also came across a picture of the last teddy bear coat I made. I posted it side by side in the  picture down below next to the new coat. I also made the entire outfit that is in the first picture. I may make an entire outfit to go with the new coat-
The new coat will be available in my Etsy shop in October along with a few other things I'm making. The teddy bear coat will come in a special box like the last one did -

H ow do we measure the amount of what something is worth ? What if it's value is love. …. I created this little painting a few months ago and mailed it to a friend. I then asked them to ship it back because I didn't feel like it was fully finished. My friend sent it back using UPS and it was lost for the last three weeks. I had to call the people over at UPS and open a case. The lady on the phone asked me the value of the painting. I struggled to come of with a monetary amount.  It's a simple painting, painted with simple materials, in two simple colors. This is my new mixed media piece I call it Donations. It was created out of the frustration I feel with the art world. Here you have the quintessential depiction of the starving artist right? Paint brush in hand standing on the street corner working for donations. But the truth is the days of the starving artist are gone for the most part. Or should I say the respect for the starving artist and their wallet is gone!.  Everywhere I look there's someone trying to fleece my pockets as an artist. I'm promised that I can be a hopeful and apply for art space in a residency for a mere $900 a month,lol.Years ago when I worked mostly in paint I wanted to get studio space here in New York. There was this one place I wanted to get into so bad, It offered studio space in little historic 19th century cottages. What If  You Have Already Fulfilled Your Potential And None Of Us Noticed-  I read that the other day and it really resonated with me. It was written by an artist, I'm not sure of his full name. I found one of his pieces of art on one of Hi- Fructose magazines websites. They only had his first name which was David. He had that quote written across one of his pieces of art. It basically sums up how I feel about my art career.  I often sleep with my phone by my bed and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and look at whatever messages or comments people have left me. Last night I woke up at 2am and there were these two woman having a conversation on one of my Instagram pictures. One lady put her friend in the comment saying ''I think you would like this'' She was referring to one of my pieces of mixed media art I did.
