living life with no fear

Image
W e will be welcoming in October in a mere three days! and I am a head of schedule for making my first tarot card. First let me refresh everyone, the first card in the deck I needed to make was the Fool-  I like the fools card because it represents the person who knows what they want to do but they just don't know how to get there. The daily tarot girl put it best she said;  ' The Fool can be a bit naïve.  For example, he is the dude who gets all fired up about some bizarre business venture and puts all of his life savings and energy into it. He may turn out to be a millionaire or a broke hobo, but he will always trust his instincts, follow his heart and live''  I n order to make the card I needed to ask myself how living life with no fear would translate- This is what I came up with. Yes it's a teddy bear on top of a ladder trying to capture a butterfly with his butterfly net, lol . He has no fear of falling off the ladder and knocking the stuffing out of...

A livable cabinet of curiosities, oh my

W orking on a bunch of new mixed media pieces that have whole room scenes.  S ome of these rooms have been in my head for a while and some are ones that were inspired in the moment.   T his first picture was inspired by a house in Brooklyn know as a livable cabinet of curiosities.  I actually made a few different drafts but settled on this version because I liked it best.  Think I went a little creepier with it then I had initially intended because we are approaching October and so I think a little spookiness crept in.     T he H ouse I n B rooklyn  know as a livable cabinet of curiosities. House in Brooklyn know as the house of curiosities. This is the house that inspired my piece up there^^ T his second piece was inspired by another house in Brooklyn called there's a jungle in Brooklyn.    The woman who lives in the house named Summer Rayne Oakes  is an Environmentalist, and her house has plants everywhere, lit...

Teddy bear domination is back

Image
Y esterday marked the day that I've made three hundred pieces of Blythe doll clothing.  Y ep, I started making Blythe clothing three years ago and yesterday I started finishing up another teddy bear coat. I haven't made one in three years so I was pretty excited to finally make another one.                  H ere is the new teddy bear coat-  Was inspired by a ballerinas tutu On left side is picture of coat before the teddy bear was sewn on.  The right side is after I sewn on the teddy bear L ike the last teddy bear coat I made the picking of the bear was as important as the coat itself.  I found a lovely vintage STEIFF bear from 2003 who gave his life for this coat- Doesn't he look happy to be volunteering! L ike the last bear coat I made, I had to take the bear apart and reassemble him back on to the coat. If you are sensitive to a teddy bear being taken apart look away now!, haha ...

9/11

T here are certain dates since we've entered into the 2000's that I think some of us won't forget for our own reasons.  T he other day I was on twitter and someone mentioned Y2K and I almost spit out my coffee laughing. As so many of you  probably remember Y2K was the beginning of the millennial age and there were all these rumors circulating that on New Years Eve at midnight as we went from 1999 into 2000 all the clocks were suppose to stop working, and all the computers were suppose to crash. People were stocking up on groceries. Was suppose to be absolute chaos!.  I stayed in that new years was raining and was bitterly cold out. I stayed up to midnight to see if the clocks would stop and to see if the world would virtually shut down, lol...oh right, and to ring in the New Year! Nothing significant happened so I went to sleep, lol  A nother date that stands out to me is 11/11/2011  That was the year all the 11's lined up! which if you look up the...

A goal without a timeline is just a dream.

I was thinking to myself  last night if I could pick just one craft out of all the crafts  I've done over the years to get back into, would probably be making jewelry.  Anyone who's ever looked at my bio on Etsy where I have my shop would know jewelry was first thing I started selling when I first opened my shop back in 2009.  Now it's important you guys try and remember that because one day I will have  a pop quiz and you will all be tested on that, lol. not really..just kidding!  On a serious note though before I even started making jewelry I was making  something I called fairy boxes .  I'm going to pop a very, very, very old photo in from around 2003 down below- If you look at the photo you can see I was really into Amy Brown and Brian Froud. The boxes were way more detailed then what your seeing in this crappy  photo from 2003-  As well as being hand painted they were all embellished with beads, rhinestones and even glass!   ...

A Fool Can Be A Good Thing

W as doing some research for the Tarot Card deck I want to make.  I found out there are 72 cards in a deck.. whoa! that's a lot more then I thought. I than found this cool  site called the Daily Tarot Card Girl that shows you all the Tarot Cards and their meaning. I will pop the link below for anyone who wants to see their meanings or for anyone else who might want to make a deck.  https://www.daily-tarot-girl.com/tarot-card-meanings/list-of-tarot-card-meanings/ T urns out the first card is the f ool. That actually stumped me 'cause I wasn't sure how to convey that. The meaning also confused me a little. I actually have heard of the fools card but always thought it was a card that if you got it- meant you were a fool of sorts. And it does in a way. But after reading the meaning on Daily Tarot Card Girls website,  I see the card differently and am actually excited to make it.  H ere is it's meaning : New Beginnings, Optimism, Trust  The Fool is a ...
